Silverwater Box helps University Students win Award

Silverwater Box (now merged with UBEECO Packaging Solutions) has helped students at Macquarie University win a Divisional Award in a Robotics contest in the USA.

Prof Mike Heimlich

The University team successfully built a robot that competes in the category for lifting rubbish “totes”, (½m³ bins). CoRE Professor Michael Heimlick from the University said:

“In order to compete successfully at this level, it is obviously very important to get the robot to the competition venue in good condition. It is one thing to build a working robot in Australia, but a completely different proposition to ship it half way around the world and have it working to its full potential”.

The professor was extremely happy with the shipping box that was custom made by our team for the sensitive freighting of the robot to the USA.

“We have used Silverwater Box [now UBEECO] successfully before and were happy to go back to them for this project. The box performed extremely well and as a result of getting our robot safely to the competition, we also performed extremely well, winning our division”.

Competitions like this are really important in the research and development of robotics and the UBEECO Group are proud of our on-going support of such an important initiative. As a result of this exercise, Silverwater Box was referred as the preferred supplier of crating to similar projects in other educational forums.

At UBEECO, we pride ourselves on our ability to offer packaging systems across a wide spectrum of applications – from dedicated packaging of heavy machinery, to the design and manufacture of intricate cosmetic display boxes. We utilise timber, plastic, steel, fibreglass and cardboard and cater for local, interstate and export destinations.
